Ask for a review after a customer has something to say.

A good review request makes honest feedback easy and gives a customer a clear way to get help. Start with this editable email, then use the checklist before sending anything.

A copyable first email

Replace every bracketed field. Send only to customers you are allowed to contact, using a working review destination.

The template asks for an honest experience. It does not ask for a particular rating or promise an incentive.

Decide when to ask

1Confirm delivery. A shipment notice is not the same as a product arriving. Use the actual delivery or access event where available.

2Allow use time. A consumable, a gift, and an instant digital download give customers different chances to form an opinion.

3Respect the customer. Stop sending when a customer opts out. Check your platform's rules and your permission to use each channel.

There is no universal “best day” for every product. Test timing against your real delivery process and customer feedback.

Five checks before sending

  1. Open the link on a phone. It should reach the intended review page without a login surprise or dead end.
  2. Check order context. Use the correct product name and remove placeholders. Avoid revealing sensitive purchase details in subject lines.
  3. Ask everyone fairly. Do not screen for only happy customers or steer the rating language toward a positive score.
  4. Make support easy. Give a reply path for a broken item or delivery problem without making support a condition of leaving a review.
  5. Check the rules for your channel. Email and SMS permissions, marketplace policies, and opt-outs can differ. Review them before running a campaign.
